KCS Board of Governors

Board Chair

Structure & Purpose
Kamloops Christian School is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected by the school society (Kamloops Christian School Association) and serve as the caretakers of our school's vision and mission.
Our Board of Directors consists of committed Christians who work together to ensure the school's activities fulfill its purpose and values.
The board typically consists of between 5 and 9 members, each serving a three-year term. Board members are often part of the school-parent community, grandparents, alumni, or other supporters of Christian education. The board holds regular monthly meetings from September to June to discuss the school's direction, policies, and future plans.
Governance
The KCS board governs through a Policy Governance board structure that hires a Principal/Head of School to manage the school to achieve “Ends” within the bounds of Policy. This model distinctly separates strategic leadership from daily management of the school. The Board in turn is answerable to the Membership of KCSA.
Operating under a Policy Governance model, our board:
-
Focuses on the whole organization, rather than on issues of interest to individuals
-
Is a corporate body, with board members working together, speaking with one voice
-
Hires and supervises only one employee: Principal/Head of School
-
Does not make management and operational decisions
-
Overseeing the school's financial sustainability
-
Monitors implementation of the Strategic Plan
-
Articulates and communicates the vision of KCS
.
Accountability
The Kamloops Christian School Board is accountable to its members. Our annual general meeting provides an opportunity for the school community to be informed of and participate in the decision-making process of our school.
As your Board of Directors, we are dedicated to:
-
Providing strong, strategic leadership
-
Delivering Christ-centered, quality Christian education
-
Valuing our staff and students
-
Working with parents and staff to develop KCS into an organization that will thrive for generations to come
KCSA Bylaws
The KCSA bylaws provide the foundational principles and regulations that guide the governance and operation of Kamloops Christian School. These bylaws ensure that all aspects of our governance and administration adhere to the highest standards of transparency and accountability while also meeting the requirements of the BC Societies Act.
A copy of the KSCA Bylaws can be found on the KCS mobile app.
We appreciate your continued support through your prayer, time, and resources as we partner together to fulfill God's calling for Kamloops Christian School.
